Low Blood Sugar

Low blood sugar or hypoglycemia can vary from person to person. As the glucose levels in your blood go very low, the symptoms become more severe. The normal range of sugar levels in your blood usually should fall between 70-110 mg/dl.

If your sugar levels are marginally lower(60-65 mg/dl) then the low blood sugar symptoms normally experienced are nausea, hunger, anxiety, trembling, nervousness, excessive sweating, palpitations and numbness in your limbs.

If your sugar levels are in the moderate range, i.e between 30-50 mg/dl then you may experience moderates symptoms. Moderate symptoms can be slightly more severe and may prevent your from day to day activities.

Many of these simple activities can range from personality changes, fatigue, weakness, speech problems, forgetfullness and a person may have difficulty in walking around. Other signs could include confusion, lack of focus and impaired vision.

The most severe low blood sugar cases occur when your sugar levels drop well below 30 mg/dl, this can prove to be fatal and a doctor should be consulted immediately. Some of the most severe symptoms include seizures and convulsions. A person could also go into coma if not treated quickly. Consistently lower blood sugar levels can also cause irreversible damage to the heart and brain.

There are certain medicines which can cover the symptoms of low blood sugar, although this may prove dangerous in the long run. As these medicines hide the signs, you may not be able to know when you have low blood sugar. This can eventually lead to more complications, like an effect on your nervous system.

It is very important on getting yourself diagnosed correctly and quickly to avoid any problems later on. At the first sign of the above symptoms get yourself checked by a professional and follow the necessary treatment. Also as the symptoms of low blood sugar are similar to other medical conditions, you may be mis-diagnosed as something else.
